Founded in 1982, in North Inner City Dublin as a response to the then emerging heroin epidemic within the community – the Ana Liffey Drug Project continues to work hard to support the communities we work within and the individuals most affected by problematic drug use. One of the main purposes of the Ana Liffey is to engage with people who are actively using drugs; to journey with them; and to help them make healthier choices.

Marian Keyes, Damien Dempsey, Emmet Kirwan, James Kavanagh, Philly McMahon and many others have joined the #SaferFromHarm campaign to decriminalise people who use drugs. In a new campaign video Marian Keyes recognises that “how we currently treat drug users does not work and needs to change”, while Damien Dempsey believes that “we need to treat drug use as a health issue, not a criminal issue.”
