A project support intern (Limerick)
PURPOSE
Assist the Ana Liffey Drug Project by increasing our capacity to work with more clients in our services.
Main Tasks include:

Assignment of individual project work, working within a low threshold, harm reduction ethos from a client centred approach using both keyworking and case management skills.

Assisting in the staffing of the Drop In service.

Carry out Needle Syringe Program and engage with service users on an outreach basis.
-
Carrying out inreach to appropriate external agencies.
-
Co-facilitation of client groups with staff member input.
-
Informing staff members of clients’ indepth intervention/support needs.
-
Maintain paperwork and admin files as required.
WHERE
The Gables, Fairgreen, Ballysimon Road, Limerick with a remit for Limerick city and county, North Tipperary and Clare.
WHEN
Monday through Friday, 9:30-5:30pm (35 hours per week)
DURATION
9 months
REQUIRED SKILLS OR QUALIFICATIONS
Educational Requirements:
-
Primary Certificate in a field related to the organization including, but not limited to Addition Studies, Social Care, Psychology, Social Studies.
Additional Skills and Attributes:

Ability to build strong professional relationships with the staff teams and our client group.

Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
-
Ability to stay calm under pressure.

Good team player.
-
Must be at least 23 years of age.
-
Must be able to understand, communicate and uphold ALDP regulations.

Must demonstrate poise, compassion and non-judgment towards clients.
-
Good knowledge and/or experience of working from a low threshold, harm reduction model.
-
Full clean driver’s license.

Must be in receipt of a Jobseekers Allowance/Jobseekers Benefit/One Parent Family Payment/Disability Allowance, or signing for Social Insurance Contribution credits for a total of 3 months or more in the past 6 months.

Opportunity to learn about and engage with other relevant services in the sector.

Opportunity to learn about and engage with the harm reduction, low threshold model, person centered approach, and needle syringe provision.

Gain practical experience in the field of drug addiction service provision.
COMPENSATION
This internship is offered under the JobBridge scheme therefore interns will receive an allowance of €50 per week on top of their social welfare entitlement.
